A lecture by Dr. S. Suresh (INTACH Tamil Nadu State Convenor)

INTACH hosted a lecture by Dr. Sethuraman Suresh on January 30, 2025, as part of INTACH Utsav 2025. The talk, titled God is Thy Neighbour, was loosely based on INTACH’s recent publication, From the House to the City in Tamil Nadu or the Forbidden Diagonal, the English translation of a notable French work. The book offers a rare perspective on the subtle yet significant relationship between temples and neighbouring residences in rural and semi-urban Tamil Nadu, drawn from extensive fieldwork.

Dr. S. Suresh, who was closely involved in the publication—assisting with the translation, editing, peer review, and contributing an epilogue and supplemental bibliography—delivered the session.

The lecture attracted scholars, students, urban planners, and heritage professionals, offering valuable insights into the cultural and architectural fabric of temple towns in Tamil Nadu.
